Belonephobia is a specific phobia involving an intense fear of needles and pins, broader than the narrower fear of medical injections alone. It can lead a person to avoid sewing, medical procedures or ordinary objects such as safety pins, and in some sufferers the anxiety is accompanied by a genuine fainting response, a pattern shared with other blood-injection-injury type phobias.
