Koumpounophobia, from the Modern Greek koumpono, to button, and the Greek phobos, fear, is the term used to describe a phobia of clothes' buttons, which regularly leads to feelings of fear and disgust when sufferers are exposed to buttons either visually or physically. It is estimated that less than one percent of the population of the United States has this phobia.
