Bouffee Delirante

Bouffee delirante (BD) is an acute and transient psychotic disorder and a uniquely French psychiatric diagnostic term with a long history in France and in French-speaking nations of the Caribbean, such as Haiti, Guadeloupe and the wider Antilles, and in Francophone Africa. The term was originally coined and described by the psychiatrist Valentin Magnan, who lived from 1835 to 1916, then fell into relative disuse before being revived by Henri Ey, who lived from 1900 to 1977.
