Clinical Lycanthropy

Clinical lycanthropy is a rare psychiatric syndrome involving the delusion that the affected person can transform into, has transformed into, or is a non-human animal. Its name comes from the mythical condition of lycanthropy, the supernatural belief that humans physically shapeshift into wolves, though current researchers use the term for a broader range of delusional animal transformations; transformation into an animal other than a wolf was once described separately as zoanthropy.
