Self-deception, also called self-delusion, is a process of denying or rationalizing away the relevance, significance or importance of evidence and logical argument that opposes a belief a person already holds. Self-deception involves convincing oneself of a truth, or of the lack of a truth, in such a way that a person does not reveal to themselves any actual self-knowledge that the deception is taking place.
