Kinesiophobia

Clinical and Motivational Phenomena

Kinesiophobia is the fear of physical movement, most often documented in people recovering from an injury or a chronic pain condition who come to associate motion itself with the risk of re-injury or increased pain. It is studied extensively in physical therapy and rehabilitation medicine, where excessive avoidance of movement is recognized as a factor that can slow recovery and worsen long-term outcomes.
