Philophobia is the fear of falling in love. It usually occurs after a person has confronted emotional turmoil relating to love, but it can also be a chronic phobia, and it can evolve out of religious and cultural beliefs that prohibit love; it can affect a person's quality of life and push them away from commitment, keeping them in solitude and producing certain guilt and frustration toward their own reaction. Philophobia is not included in the DSM-5.
