Communication Systems

Groups the branches concerned with language and mediated communication as psychological phenomena: Psycholinguistics studies how people acquire, understand and produce language, Discursive Psychology studies how people use language and conversation to construct social reality and psychological categories, and Media Psychology studies how media technologies and content affect thought, emotion and behavior. A branch whose central concern is a mental process unrelated to language or media belongs elsewhere.
