Engineering and Environmental Psychology

Groups the branches that study how people interact with designed systems, physical environments and the built and natural world: Engineering Psychology designs tools, systems and interfaces to fit human capabilities, Aviation Psychology applies that same human factors approach to pilots, air traffic controllers and flight safety, Traffic Psychology studies driver behavior and road safety, Environmental Psychology studies how physical settings affect mood, behavior and wellbeing, and Ecological Psychology studies behavior as it naturally occurs within everyday physical and social environments. A branch centered on a clinical population or a workplace organization rather than a designed system or physical environment belongs elsewhere.
