Enochlophobia

Enochlophobia is an irrational fear of crowds, classified as a specific phobia rather than a separate diagnosis in the DSM-5. It centers on the perceived dangers of being in a large gathering of people, including the fear of getting stuck, lost or harmed in the crowd, and is distinct from ochlophobia, the narrower fear of mobs or violent crowds, and from social anxiety, which involves fear of judgment or embarrassment in social situations generally rather than fear of crowd size itself. Like other specific phobias, it can arise from genetics, past traumatic experiences such as a distressing event in a crowded place, and learned behavior.
