Delusions and Misidentification Syndromes

A fixed, false belief held with strong conviction despite clear evidence against it, or a specific disorder in which a person misidentifies people, places or their own body, most often occurring as a symptom of a broader psychotic or neurological condition rather than as a standalone diagnosis. This group gathers named delusions and misidentification syndromes recorded for this atlas, including the classic delusional misidentification syndromes in which a person believes a familiar person or place has been replaced or duplicated, and related psychiatric symptoms such as thought insertion, thought broadcasting and ideas of reference that involve a similarly fixed, reality-distorting belief.
