Shalom Hillel Schwartz is a social psychologist and cross-cultural researcher who created the Theory of Basic Human Values, which treats a small set of universal values as latent motivations and goals shared across cultures. He developed value scales to measure both individual and national or cultural values that have been translated into more than fifty languages and applied in more than ninety societies, making his framework one of the most widely used tools in cross-cultural psychology.
