Ronald Roesch

Ronald Roesch is a Canadian forensic psychologist and emeritus professor at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, specializing in criminal defendant competency assessment and fitness-to-stand-trial evaluation. With Stephen Golding he co-developed a functional approach to evaluating defendant competence focused on cognitive, behavioral and affective capacities rather than traditional psychiatric assessment alone, created the Fitness Interview Test and co-authored the Jail Screening Assessment Tool, and founded Simon Fraser's Mental Health, Law and Policy Institute, recognized internationally for forensic risk-assessment research on violence, stalking and sexual violence.
