Sheldon Cohen is an American health psychologist and the Robert E. Doherty University Professor of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, where he directs the Laboratory for the Study of Stress, Immunity and Disease. His research examines the roles of stress, emotions, social support and personality in health and well-being, and he developed the widely used Perceived Stress Scale along with pioneering studies on how psychological stress and social networks influence immune function and susceptibility to infectious disease.
