Groups the branches concerned with how psychological traits and processes are measured, modeled and analyzed rather than with any one substantive phenomenon: Quantitative Psychology develops and evaluates statistical and measurement methods for psychological research, Mathematical Psychology builds formal mathematical models of mental processes, and Differential Psychology studies how and why individuals vary on measured psychological traits. A branch whose primary subject is a phenomenon rather than a measurement method belongs elsewhere.
