Cognitive Psychology

Groups the schools and movements centered on mental process, structure or organization: how the mind represents, structures or perceives its own contents. Belongs here: Cognitivism, Functionalism, Gestalt Psychology, Structuralism and Associationism, the historical schools of thought that shaped how psychology came to study the mind as an information processor. Gestalt Therapy, despite the shared name, is filed under clinical psychology instead: it is a psychotherapy practice, not a school of cognitive theory.
