Developmental Psychology

Groups the schools and movements centered on how mind and behavior develop across the life span, especially through social and cultural mediation. Belongs here: Cultural-Historical Psychology, the Vygotskian tradition holding that higher mental functions develop through culturally mediated social interaction, and Activity Theory, its direct successor. A movement about learning in general rather than about developmental change specifically is filed under behavioral or cognitive psychology instead.
