Schadenfreude

Schadenfreude is the experience of pleasure, joy or self-satisfaction that comes from learning of another person's troubles, failures, pain, suffering or humiliation. The word is borrowed from German, and the closest common English equivalent is gloating. Researchers have found evidence that the emotion can appear in children as young as two years old.
