B.F. Skinner (1904-1990) was an American psychologist who developed behavior analysis, especially the philosophy of radical behaviorism, and founded the experimental analysis of behavior. He used operant conditioning to strengthen behavior, considering rate of response the most effective measure of response strength. A prolific author of 21 books and 180 articles, a 2002 survey ranked him the most influential psychologist of the 20th century.
