Rumination

Clinical and Motivational Phenomena

Rumination, in psychology, is the sustained focus on and repetition of negative thoughts and emotions. Psychological interventions such as mindfulness practice have been studied as ways to help reduce this pattern of repetitive negative thinking, which is distinct from the digestive process of the same name in ruminant animals.
