Emetophobia

Clinical and Motivational Phenomena

Emetophobia is a phobia causing overwhelming, intense anxiety pertaining to vomit, which can include a fear of vomiting oneself, of being vomited on, or of seeing others vomit. Sufferers often avoid even the mention of vomiting and can become underweight or malnourished from the strict diets and food restrictions they impose on themselves to avoid triggering situations. Emetophobia is clinically considered an elusive predicament because it has received comparatively little research attention next to other fears.
