Mageirocophobia

Clinical and Motivational Phenomena

Mageirocophobia is the fear of cooking. It can take several forms, though it is not considered severe enough for treatment unless a person is severely afraid or impacted, and most frequently it is a social anxiety disorder caused by negative reactions to culinary mishaps, post-traumatic stress from cooking, or fear of others cooking for the phobic person, which can prevent them from eating, restrict them to pre-prepared foods and snacks, or lead them to eat takeout that results in unhealthy diets associated with hypertension, obesity and diabetes.
