Presenteeism

Presenteeism, or working while sick, is the act or culture of employees continuing to work as a performative measure despite having reduced productivity or facing negative consequences from illness, injury, exhaustion or other conditions. Documented motives for the behavior include financial necessity, fear of career damage and workplace culture, and the practice is described as particularly ingrained in Singapore and other parts of Asia, with workaholics tending to show higher levels of it than other workers.
