Brenda Milner is a British-Canadian neuropsychologist who has contributed extensively to the research literature in clinical neuropsychology, particularly the role of the temporal lobes in episodic memory. A professor at McGill University and at the Montreal Neurological Institute, she is often described as one of the founders of neuropsychology as a discipline; her work with the amnesic patient known as H.M. was central to establishing how different brain structures support different kinds of memory. She received the Kavli Prize in Neuroscience in 2014 and the Balzan Prize for Cognitive Neuroscience in 2009.
