Leda Cosmides is an American psychologist who, together with anthropologist John Tooby, pioneered the field of evolutionary psychology. In 1992 she co-edited, with Tooby and Jerome Barkow, The Adapted Mind: Evolutionary Psychology and the Generation of Culture, the book usually credited with ushering in the field's modern era, and the pair co-founded the Center for Evolutionary Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
