Louis Leon Thurstone was an American psychologist and a founding figure of psychometrics and psychophysics. He developed the law of comparative judgment as an approach to measurement, made major contributions to factor analysis, and formulated the Primary Mental Abilities model of intelligence. He founded the journal Psychometrika and the Psychometric Society, serving as its first president in 1936.
