Solomon Asch (1907-1996) was a Polish-born American psychologist and a leading figure of the Gestalt school in America, known for work on impression formation, prestige suggestion and group conformity. His line-judgment conformity experiments, begun in the early 1950s at Swarthmore College, became a cornerstone demonstration of social influence on individual judgment.
