Lee Joseph Cronbach was an American educational psychologist who made major contributions to psychological testing and measurement. He developed Cronbach's alpha, a widely used method for assessing the reliability of psychological and educational tests, and generalizability theory, which extended reliability analysis to examine how test performance varies across different testing conditions. He served as president of both the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association.
