Triarchic Theory of Intelligence

Robert Sternberg proposed the triarchic theory in his 1985 book Beyond IQ, arguing that intelligence tests built mainly around analytical, test-taking ability miss two other components of real-world intelligent behavior. Psychometrician Linda Gottfredson has challenged the theory's empirical foundation, arguing standard intelligence tests already measure practical ability reasonably well, evidenced by their correlation with income and occupational success.
